About the course

This training contains everything you need to begin working as a healthcare interpreter in  your current role. We complete the course as an elective in two weeks. 

The 65-hr asynchronous hybrid course consists of:

  • A language assessment
  • 22 chapters jam-packed with the essential information needed to be a qualified healthcare interpreter. Each chapter is divided into comfortable segments. Most are taught with video lectures between ranging between 30 and 75 minutes.
  • Robust quizzes that model the style in which questions are asked on national interpreter certification exams
  • Assignments designed to develop the critical thinking skills you need as an interpreter and self-assessment guides for all of your work
  • Case studies involving real-life scenarios that interpreters face on the job
  • Four trademarked Interpreter Language LabsTM that give you hands-on experience and practice interpreting realistic patient-provider encounters
  • The opportunity for students to see each other's Language Labs and provide feedback on the adherence to  the techniques and skills learned in the course
  • A final exam to ensure you have learned and retained the information necessary to work as a qualified healthcare interpreter
  • A certificate of completion which will allow you to pursue national certification
